Get ready to find some treasure! We have a super fun printable board game for you!
This game goes as a companion to our ‘Kedi Wants to Be a Pirate’ Kindle book. If you don’t have the book, don’t worry, the game is still a lot of fun!
In case you missed it, we have a great article for parents, with fun pirate themed ideas for the kids! You can read it here.
Now, let’s get ready to find some treasure!
Needed Supplies:
- Printer
- Scissors
- Glue or Tape
- Dice (you only need one)
- Goldfish crackers
- Empty cups or small bowls
How to Set It Up
To prepare for the game, print the board, cards and characters. Cut everything out.
To make the characters stand up, connect the edges and tape or glue them together.
How To Play
Now that you have everything assembled, it’s time to play!
Place a container (treasure chest) near the ‘X’ on the map.
Each player gets 20 goldfish to start the game.
The object of the game it to reach the ‘X’ with more goldfish than the other players. If you do, you get to keep all of the treasure (goldfish). In case of a tie, the mouse gets them all!
Each player chooses a marker and rolls the die to see who goes first.
Taking turns, player one rolls the die. If they roll a 5, they have to draw a card. If they roll any other number, they move forward according to the number on the die, using the yellow squares.Â
If a 5 is rolled, draw a card and move your marker to the square on the board that has the picture that matches the picture on your card. If that spot is the windmill or the barn, you get 3 goldfish. If it’s one of the other spots, count the goldfish at that spot and put that many goldfish in the container by the ‘X’.
Keep playing until everyone reaches the ‘X’. Once a card has been used, it’s removed from the deck. If you run out of cards, you can shuffle them and start the cards again.
That’s it! Feel free to make up your own rules too! Now it’s time to download, print and get started!
